Brantford Public Library cards are free for

  • Residents in Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations
  • Brantford business owners
  • Students at the Brantford campus of WLU
People who do not fall in these categories can still get a non-resident card for an annual fee of $40.
Complete a membership form at either the St. Paul Branch or Main Branch in downtown Brantford to get a card. Or download a membership form and bring it into a Library branch or email it to the Library. If emailed, we will call you when your card is ready to be picked up.
Two pieces of identification must be shown with your name and current address before your library card and PIN can be issued. You can begin accessing library service for free as soon as you are registered.

Treat your library card like you would any important piece of personal identification (Health Card, Driver's License, etc.). IMMEDIATELY report a lost or stolen card to the Library. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card. Do not lend your card or any library materials that you borrow. Each family member should have an individual card. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for children and assume full responsibility in the choice of material borrowed from the Library.

Cards for all borrowers, infants up to and including age 15, must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Individuals aged 16 and up sign their own card and are responsible for all materials borrowed.

Please report change of address/telephone numbers promptly and don't forget you must let us know immediately if your card has been lost or stolen.

Replacement Card

A replacement fee is charged. Once a replacement card is issued, you will be able to borrow items immediately. The replacement card makes the previous card unusable. Identification must be shown with your name and current address, and all fines and/or overdues cleared before a replacement card can be issued.

  • Replacement of adult card - $2.00
  • Replacement of children’s card - $1.00

We currently have over 240,000 items in our collection. This includes books, magazines, sewing machines and more!
With your Library card, you can also use popular databases and online learning websites for free, plus have access to movie streaming, digital magazines, language software and more.
