Canada Reads: BPL Edition

Mar 21, 6:30pm

Each spring, the CBC hosts a Canada Reads event where celebrities champion five Canadian books. The goal is to choose a title that everyone in the country should be reading.

This year, Brantford will choose our own winner!

Wilfrid Laurier English Professor Michael Ackerman will moderate a debate between local book experts who will be arguing for which book they feel all Canadians should read. Our expert panel includes book blogger Susan Gibson, Library Board members Penny McKenzie and Caroline Freibauer and Danielle Baines and Anna Rowe, who are library staff.

Refreshments will be served at the event and there will be a Canada Reads themed prize given out.

This year's shortlisted titles are:

The Boat People by Sharon Bala

American War by Omar El Akkad

Precious Cargo by Craig Davidson

Forgiveness by Mark Sakamoto

The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline
