Barriers to Voting: Recognizing Challenges and Building Strategies

Learn about past and current barriers to voting and civic engagement.
A panel of experts will discuss why we don’t vote and how to change that.

Panelists include: 

Taylor Berzins - a Brantford local, passionate community organizer, and a master’s candidate at U of T. Taylor’s activism and research centre on health access, community education, and student engagement.

Tara Brookfield - a Wilfrid Laurier University professor who's research touches on Canadian women’s political activism in the 20th century.

Anna Esselment - The acting director of the University of Waterloo's Master of Public Service program. Her areas of research include campaigns and elections and political marketing. Dr. Esselment recently co-published a volume entitled Permanent Campaigning in Canada. 

Brian O'Riordan - The former Director of Government Relations and Policy at the Ontario Hospital Association and current Registrar for an ontario regulatory body.
