Herbert J. Avey

Gnr. Herbert J. Avey, who resided at 101 Maitland Street, was killed in an accident in Brantford on July 28, 1941, when struck by a train as he was taking a short cut across the C.N.R. tracks to his home. He enlisted with the 54th Battery in Brantford about two months before his death and went with a group to the 102nd Battery. He was born in Brantford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gordon Avey and he leaves to mourn him, his widow and two children.
