Examination Proctoring Information

Purpose

As part of the Brantford Public Library’s mission statement to serve the community’s need for life-long learning, the Library provides an examination proctoring service.  The following conditions apply to this service:

Proctoring Policy

Proctoring is subject to availability of Library staff and will be done at the Main branch of the Brantford Public Library during regular library hours. The Library reserves the right to refuse to proctor exams that may interfere with normal Library operation.

No fee will be charged for proctoring, however, the student is responsible for all costs in the delivery and return of the exam; including printing, faxing, postage and courier costs.

The Brantford Public Library’s group study rooms, computer lab or Internet stations may be booked for exams.  The student is responsible for contacting the Library and booking the appropriate room.  Study rooms, computer lab or Internet stations are booked on a first come, first served basis and no special consideration will be given for exams.

Students using the computer lab or Internet stations may not install software on Library computers.  Wireless service is available for students wishing to use their own laptops.  While the library may be able to provide some technical support, this cannot be counted on.  The Library is not responsible for any unforeseen interruptions of the exam due to loss of power or Internet connectivity.

The student is responsible for ensuring that the proctoring service provided by the Brantford Public Library meets the requirements of the institution issuing the exam.  The student is responsible for ensuring that the exam is delivered to the Library in time for the exam.  Library staff will receive, secure, administer and return the exam, but cannot provide direct one-on-one supervision of students for the entirety of the exam.
